Word of the Father · Day 354/366

Guard your tongue, guard your character

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

Proverbs 21:23

My son, my daughter, I know how hard it is to hold back the sharp reply when someone provokes you, to swallow the cutting remark when anger rises fast. Persevering in character, day after day, often comes down to winning small battles with your own mouth.

Every word you hold back, every calm response chosen instead of the outburst, is a quiet victory that no one applauds, but that shapes who you're becoming. It isn't easy, and I'm not asking you to be perfect at it. But I am asking you to persevere, trying again each day, even after failing yesterday.

Guarding your tongue doesn't mean staying silent about everything; it means choosing wisely when to speak and how to speak. That guards your soul from a lot of needless anguish, from regrets that could have been avoided. Keep training in this self-control with me; I'll help you with every new attempt.
