Word of the Father · Day 73/366

In the Middle of Life's Traffic

For he is our peace.

Ephesians 2:14

Life runs like traffic stalled at the worst possible hour: honking horns, delays, that restlessness of feeling time slipping away while nothing moves forward. You grip the wheel, you grip your heart, and your patience runs out before breakfast even settles.

My son, my daughter, I don't only dwell in moments of silence and prayer on bended knee. I want to dwell inside the stopped car too, in the grocery line, in the rush between one commitment and the next. I am the peace that doesn't depend on your circumstances being calm around you.

Take a deep breath right where you are now, even in the middle of the rush. You can carry my peace within you even when the world outside is in an uproar. It isn't the routine that needs to grow calm first — it's your heart that can rest in me right in the middle of it.
