If I Lose My Job
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Psalm 23:1
The mood at work has shifted, the rumors of cutbacks won't stop, and the ground feels like it's shaking just from thinking about the possibility of losing your job. It's natural to fear for your provision, your routine, the identity you sometimes place in what you do.
My son, my daughter, your job is a blessing, but it isn't your source. I am. A position can change, a company can close, but I don't change and I don't close the doors of my care for you. I am shepherd before any title on your badge.
If the layoff comes, I already know, and I'm already preparing the next step before you can even see it. If it doesn't come, may that peace already have made its home in you either way. You will lack nothing, because the one who cares for you doesn't depend on a paycheck. Trust that the one who sustains the birds of the sky will sustain you and your household too.
