Grateful for a Second Chance
“And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,”
Jonah 3:1
I saw you remembering that time you ran from what I had called you to do. Like Jonah, you too have run in the opposite direction when I asked something difficult of you. And yet, look at what Scripture records: the word of the Lord came a second time to Jonah.
I don't cast aside someone who fails once. I don't cross out of my plan someone who fled, who made a mistake, who was slow to obey. There is always a second word, a new call, a new chance to make right what you once got wrong or never did at all.
Today I want you to give thanks for this quality of mine: I keep pursuing you even after you've run. If there's something you abandoned out of fear or exhaustion, feel the freedom of knowing the door is still open. A second chance isn't weakness on my part — it's the clearest proof of my grace.
