Courage for a New Chapter

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Philippians 1:21

I saw you yesterday, looking ahead with a tight heart. A new job, a different city, a decision that changes everything — and fear came along with it, like it always does when the map changes. You kept wondering if it's going to work out, if you'll be able to handle it, if it isn't too crazy.

My son, my daughter, the new doesn't scare me, because I'm already there before you arrive. I'm not surprised by the doors that open in your life; I'm the one who prepared the way. Fear of the new is usually fear of losing control — and the sweetest truth there is, is that you never had that control on your own. I was always holding it.

Take the step. Not because you're certain of everything, but because you're certain of me. Wherever this new chapter takes you, I've already written my name on the first page.
