Word of the Father · Day 123/366

A Fresh Start Under the Same Roof

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Colossians 3:13

Come here. I saw the silence at your dinner table. I saw the words that got stuck in your throat, the eyes that look away, the house that was supposed to be a shelter turning into a battlefield of cold war. A family that doesn't speak to each other is one of the most silent kinds of pain there is, and I know every single one of them.

I'm not going to ask you to pretend the hurt doesn't exist. I'm going to ask you to bear with one another, which is different from silently enduring — it's making room for the other person to be imperfect, the way I make room for you. The forgiveness I gave didn't wait for you to deserve it; it came first, it was free, it was complete.

If today it's you who needs to take the first step in that silent house, I'll walk with you to the bedroom door. I don't promise the first conversation will be easy. I promise that grace which doesn't give up on you also doesn't give up on restoring a family.
