Word of the Father · Day 243/366
Resting Is Also Purpose
“Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God.”
Exodus 20:9-10
I've noticed that you measure your worth by your productivity. The more you do, the more you feel you're fulfilling your purpose; and when you stop to rest, a strange guilt shows up, as if you were wasting time that should be put to use, as if stopping meant betraying the calling I gave you.
I myself established rest as part of the order of creation — not as an accident, but as a commandment, written right alongside the other nine you would never dare to break. If even I rested on the seventh day, after creating the whole universe out of nothing, why do you think you need to work without stopping to have worth in my eyes?
Rest is not the opposite of purpose. It's part of it. An exhausted body, a mind with no pause, cannot carry a calling for long — it breaks before it blossoms. Allow yourself to stop today without guilt. Lie down, breathe, silence the to-do list for a few hours. That, too, is obedience to me, and it may be the obedience you need most today.
