Close to Those Who Weep

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 5:4

I didn't come to rush your grief. I know there are people around you who want you to already be fine, already smiling, already having turned the page, as if that were something simple to do. I am not like that. I draw closest exactly when the heart is broken, not after it has already healed on its own.

Starting over after a loss doesn't mean forgetting who you loved, or erasing what's left behind as if it never existed. It means learning to breathe alongside the emptiness, knowing I am right there, beside you, with no rush at all to pull you out of this season before its proper time.

If today all you can do is cry, cry without any shame. I promised comfort to those who weep, not reproach. If all you can do is get out of bed, that's enough walking for me. One day, without you even noticing the exact moment it happens, the new beginning will arrive like morning light. Until then, I stay close, very close to you.
