Word of the Father · Day 42/366
The Fear of What Hasn't Come Yet
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7
You lie there, in the middle of the night or in the middle of your workday, imagining everything that could go wrong tomorrow, next year, ten years from now. Fear of the future can steal the joy of a present that hasn't even happened yet.
I didn't shape you to live bound by dread. The spirit I placed in you is one of power, not weakness; of love, not suspicion; of a sound mind, not panic. Most of the terrible scenarios your mind invents today may never happen — and even if something hard does come, I'll already be there, just as I am here now.
You don't have to conquer the whole future at once, today, sitting in that chair. You only need to live this day with the strength I give for this day. Tomorrow will come with tomorrow's strength, and I won't be missing, not even for a second.
