Word of the Father · Day 40/366

At Three in the Morning

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Psalm 4:8

I saw you last night, staring at the ceiling in the dark, your heart racing for no clear reason, your mind spinning with thoughts that never even showed up during the day. At three in the morning everything seems bigger and more threatening than it really is — problems grow in the silence of the night.

My son, my daughter, I do not sleep. While you struggle to close your eyes, I am already taking care of everything that's keeping you awake. You can hand over that thought that won't stop spinning, that list of worries that insists on visiting you at the exact moment you most need to rest.

The security that brings sleep doesn't come from resolving everything before bed. It comes from knowing that someone is awake, watching over you while you rest. Leave this night with me. I'll hold what your mind can no longer hold.
