Word of the Father · Day 353/366

Discouragement in the middle of the road

Let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them.

Deuteronomy 20:3

Come here, my son, my daughter. You've already walked a good part of the way, spending energy, time, hope, and now, right in the middle, a discouragement has hit that threatens to make you stop. It's easier to give up in the middle than at the start, because by then the effort already made hurts, and what's still left hurts too.

I know this kind of weariness, and I won't tell you it's foolishness or a lack of faith. It's human. But I want to remind you that my old counsel to my people, in the middle of their hardest crossing, was exactly this: do not let your heart faint, do not fear, do not tremble before what still frightens you.

The middle of the road is the most strategic place for me to act, because it's right there that your human strength runs out, and mine needs to show up. Don't make any final decisions on a day of discouragement. Rest, breathe, and keep going, one step at a time, knowing that I go ahead of you.
