Word of the Father · Day 160/366

The forgiveness that opens the door

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Matthew 6:12

I need to tell you about a weight you may not even realize you're carrying: a grudge held onto. Have you noticed how hard it is to pray with an open heart when there's still someone you haven't forgiven? It isn't that I stop listening to you — it's that resentment closes off your own capacity to receive my forgiveness in return.

I'm not asking you to pretend it didn't hurt. It hurt, and I know how much. But forgiving isn't saying what they did to you was right — it's handing over to me the right to collect the debt, so your heart can be free again.

Today, before you ask for anything in prayer, look inside: is there someone you're still carrying like a debt? Bring that name to me. I'll help you let go, one step at a time, and while that happens, my door stays open to forgive you too.
