Word of the Father · Day 157/366

Close to me, but never small

O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Psalm 8:1

I want you to come close to me without fear, but I also want you to never treat me as something small. Being Father doesn't strip me of greatness. I am the one who holds the universe together, and I still choose to bend down to hear your voice. Both things are true at the same time: I am intimate and I am holy.

Sometimes, in the rush, you speak to me quickly, like someone firing off a message without thinking about who's receiving it. I understand the pace of your life. But today I invite you to pause for a moment before asking for anything and simply admire who I am: faithful, eternal, full of love and also of power.

Honoring my name isn't distance, it's recognition. It's remembering that the one listening to you isn't just any friend — it's the God whose name is excellent in all the earth, who created the stars and still keeps your name close to his heart.
