Word of the Father · Day 166/366
I Don't Trade Bread for Stone
“Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?”
Matthew 7:9
I know that sometimes life gave you a stone when you expected bread. A broken promise, a 'no' that hurt, a silence at the moment you needed an answer most. Without meaning to, that may have taught you to distrust even Me, to think maybe I'll disappoint you the same way.
But I am not like the disappointments you've already lived through. When you ask for bread, I don't hide a stone behind My back. If the answer takes time, or comes different from what you expected, it's not because I traded what is good for what wounds. It's because sometimes what looks like a stone today is the foundation of a bigger loaf of bread that comes later.
Today, if your heart still distrusts Me because of old wounds, I invite you to risk it again. Ask. I am a Father who gives bread, not stone.
