The Map That Didn't Work Out
“A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
Proverbs 16:9
You had a beautiful plan, carefully drawn out on paper and in your mind. You knew exactly where you wanted to be by this point in life — married or not, with a certain job landed, living in the place of your dreams. And none of it happened the way you planned so carefully.
I don't despise your plans, and I don't think it's wrong that you dream big. I love that you plan ahead, that you work hard, that you fight for what you want. But I reserve for myself the right to direct your final steps, because I see the whole road ahead, and you, from where you're standing, can only see the next block.
The detour you're living right now isn't a mistake on the map, and it isn't a punishment. It's a road I chose, because I know of a bridge further ahead that you still can't see from where you are. Starting over here means learning to say: "my plans, yes — but your steps, Lord, are the ones truly guiding mine."
