The Last One to Forgive You Is You
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
I have already forgiven you. It happened the exact moment you confessed, honestly, what was weighing on your chest, hiding nothing from me. But I see that you keep condemning yourself for the same mistake, every night before you fall asleep, as if my forgiveness weren't enough to close the matter once and for all.
You have been harder on yourself than I have ever been, even in my most just moments. I don't keep a list of accusations against you once you come to me with an open, honest heart. I am the one who purifies, who wipes the record clean, who no longer treats the matter as unfinished business.
If I, who am holy and just, have already forgiven you completely — who are you to keep condemning yourself on your own? Starting over here means accepting the forgiveness that is already signed in precious blood. Put down the whip you're still holding against yourself.
