Courage to Ask for Help

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.

James 5:16

Maybe you learned, from childhood even, that asking for help was a sign of weakness. So you carry the financial, emotional, and spiritual weight all by yourself, with a smile that fools even the people who know you well. Inside, you're exhausted from pretending you have it all handled.

I never called anyone to live isolated. I created you to exist in community, supporting one another, confessing weaknesses without shame, praying for one another. Asking for help is not a failure of faith — many times it is faith itself in action, recognizing that I also work through other people.

Today I invite you to take one small step: talk to someone you trust about what you've been carrying alone. It doesn't have to be with everyone, and you don't have to lay it all out at once. But let someone into your story. The hope of lighter days begins the moment you stop insisting on getting through everything by yourself.
