Word of the Father · Day 328/366
When You've Already Been Fooled Before
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Romans 5:5
You've been promised plenty of things that never came true. Maybe it was a faith healer, an empty promise, an "everything's going to be fine" from someone who just wanted you to be quiet. After so many hopes let down, it got hard to trust even the true promises.
I understand that distrust, and I won't ask you for the kind of blind faith that others have used to deceive you. The hope I offer is different because it doesn't come from words spoken — it comes from my love poured out inside you, something you feel, not just hear. It doesn't make you ashamed because it doesn't depend on my convenience — it depends on my character, which never changes.
You can doubt what people promise, that's fine. But I want to rebuild, little by little, your trust in me, showing through small, real things that my word is different from everything that has hurt you before.
