Word of the Father · Day 323/366

Hope Without Waiting for Things to Change

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12

You promised yourself you'd only be okay once you owned your own home, once your child grew out of this phase, once your body changed, once the promotion came. And while none of that has happened, real life stays on pause, waiting for a "someday" that never fully arrives.

I wrote that letter through the hands of a man in prison, not even knowing if he'd come out alive, and even so he spoke of pressing on, not of waiting around. The hope I offer isn't a postdated check for the day everything changes — it's fuel to live with meaning today, right in the middle of the circumstance that hasn't changed yet.

You can keep seeking the change, yes, with no guilt in that at all. But don't let your joy today be held hostage by what hasn't happened yet. Press on: love, work, pray, live present, even with the circumstance still standing. That's what faith in action looks like.
