Letting Go of Control
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7
You try to hold on to everything with both hands — the kids, work, health, the future — as if letting go of any of it would make it all collapse. Your hands are already tired from gripping so tightly, but the fear of letting go is bigger than the exhaustion.
I never asked you to carry alone a weight that only I have the shoulders to bear. Casting your anxiety on me isn't giving up — it's recognizing that there's someone greater looking after the details that are beyond your reach. I have cared for you long before you ever learned to care for yourself.
Open your hands, one at a time. You won't lose what's truly yours just because you stopped gripping so tightly. So many good things only fit into open hands — and I'm here, ready to hold whatever you finally decide to let go.
