Word of the Father · Day 208/366
When Caring for Others Wears You Out
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
I see you taking care of everyone around you, solving other people's problems all day long, emotionally holding up people who don't even ask how you're really doing. You've become the shoulder so many people lean on that you can't even remember the last time someone took care of you first.
I never asked you to completely wear yourself out to prove love to anyone. Caring for others is beautiful and important, but caring for yourself is also obedience — it isn't selfishness, no matter what some voices insist. You don't serve anyone better by being completely empty inside.
Come to me, you who are weary and burdened from carrying others all on your own. Today I want to be the lap where you finally set everything down, with nothing owed in return, with no problem of mine to solve. Just rest a little. I will take care of you now, with all the care there is.
