Word of the Father · Day 203/366
The Fear of an Uncertain Tomorrow
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Matthew 6:34
I see you anticipating scenarios that don't even exist yet, spending all of today's energy on fears about a tomorrow that may never happen the way you imagine now. Fear of the unknown has a cruel way of stealing the present moment of your life, without you even quite realizing it.
I don't promise you a future without any challenges ahead — that wouldn't be true. I promise something more realistic and stronger than that: my presence in each day, in exactly the right measure for that day. I don't hand out tomorrow's grace today, because today you only really need today's grace, nothing more.
Take a deep breath. Let your tense shoulders drop. You don't have to solve the whole year in one anguished afternoon. I will be there tomorrow just as faithfully as I am here now, taking care of every detail that hasn't even appeared on your horizon of worries yet.
