Gratitude That Looks Back

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Psalm 103:2

Come here with Me today, I want you to try a simple exercise: look back. Not over the whole year, just the last few months. How many times did I resolve what seemed impossible? How many times did you cry in distress, and weeks later could barely remember why, because I had already taken care of it?

A short memory is the enemy of faith. You forget My blessings far too quickly and remember My supposed delays far too easily. That's why the psalmist speaks to his own soul, like someone reminding himself: forget not. It's a command for your memory, not just for your feelings.

Today I invite you to make a list, even just in your mind, of three things I've already done for you this year. Not to impress anyone, only to feed your own faith. Whoever remembers what God has already done finds it easier to believe what God is still going to do.
