Word of the Father · Day 283/366
Grateful on an Ordinary Day
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Today isn't your birthday, it isn't New Year's, there was no special victory to celebrate. It's just another day of the week, one of those that pass almost unnoticed. And it's exactly on a day like this that I want to teach you to give thanks.
"In everything give thanks" isn't only about the marked-off dates. It speaks of the commute to work, the tedious meeting, the clean laundry, the simple dinner. My will for you isn't an occasional gratitude — it's a way of life that works on nameless days, without a party, without an obvious reason.
Try it today, on an ordinary day: before you sleep, say thank you for things you wouldn't even think to list as special. This trains your heart to see my hand even when it works in silence, without noise, without warning — which is how I most often move.
