Content with Today's No
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Psalm 84:11
I know about the request I still haven't answered. You prayed, you waited, you kept asking, and the answer that came was a no, or at least a silence that hurts like a no. I understand your frustration — I'm not here pretending it doesn't weigh on you.
But I need you to trust in this: I withhold no good thing from those who walk with me. If the answer didn't come the way you asked today, it's because the good I have reserved for you is greater, or the right time hasn't come yet, or that yes would have led you down a path I've already seen isn't safe.
Contentment with my no today doesn't mean you stop asking. It means trusting that I am a sun — who lights the way — and a shield — who protects you from what you can't even see. Rest in that as time moves on. I don't make mistakes in what I give, nor in what I still withhold.
