Word of the Father · Day 146/366

Grace for the One Who Caused the Hurt

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

I saw the face of the person you hurt. I saw the conversation you keep putting off because you don't know how to ask for forgiveness without seeming weak, or because you're ashamed of the damage you caused in a friendship, a marriage, a family. Being the one who caused the pain, not the one who suffered it, weighs heavy too — very heavy.

I am not asking you to minimize what you did. I'm asking you to confess it — to me first, and then, when possible, to the one you hurt. Confession is not humiliation; it's the shortest path to freedom. And I am faithful and just to forgive, not reluctant, not begrudging. The moment you truly confess, I truly forgive.

The person you hurt may take time to rebuild trust, and that is their right. But you don't need to carry the guilt as if I were still collecting on that debt. I already tore it up.
