With Me, Prayer Has No Set Time
“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.”
James 5:13
I don't want to be an appointment on your calendar, scheduled only for seven in the morning or right before bed. I want to be part of every hour: the midday distress, the afternoon joy, the evening exhaustion. James wrote it so simply: are you afflicted? Pray. He didn't wait for the right hour, didn't wait for the proper place.
That means you can talk to me in traffic, in the checkout line, while washing dishes, on your work break. Prayer doesn't need a church setting to count — it only needs you turning your heart toward me, the moment affliction shows up.
Today, practice this: every time you feel a tightness in your chest, instead of saving it for later, talk to me right there, in that moment. I'm available all day long, not just during the hours you set aside for me.
