The Love That Drives Out Fear

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18

I know many people grew up thinking I'm a God with a rod in hand, waiting for a mistake so I can punish it. If you carry that fear, I want to tell you clearly: that's not who I am. Fear of punishment is a sign that the image you have of me is still distorted, still incomplete.

Perfect love doesn't coexist with that kind of fear. It drives it out. When you truly understand who I am — a Father who already settled the matter of punishment at the cross — fear loses its ground to stand on. You can come to me without trembling, without expecting punishment for your imperfection.

So today I want to replace that old fear with new intimacy. Come close without hesitation. My embrace isn't a trap, it's a shelter. Every time you draw near without trembling, this new image of me becomes more real inside you.
