3From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.
4The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
6Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
7He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
8That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Explicação
Estes seis salmos (113-118) formam o chamado 'Hallel' (louvor), cantados tradicionalmente durante a Páscoa judaica (Pêssach) — provavelmente os mesmos hinos que Jesus e seus discípulos cantaram após a Última Ceia, antes de irem ao Monte das Oliveiras (Mateus 26:30). A imagem central deste salmo é o contraste entre a grandeza transcendente de Deus ('habita nas alturas') e sua proximidade íntima ('se abate' para cuidar dos pobres e das famílias sem filhos). A aplicação hoje é que a verdadeira grandeza de Deus se revela justamente em seu cuidado com os mais fracos e esquecidos da sociedade.
