Day 17Healing for the Heart

Let Yourself Be Comforted

Blessed be God... the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulation.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

There are people so used to comforting others that they've forgotten how it feels to be comforted. You're everyone's shoulder to lean on, the strong one in the family, the one who holds the household together — and when it's you who needs to be held, you don't know how to receive it. Today, let God comfort you. He is called "the God of all comfort": not a little, not sometimes — of all. There is no pain of yours too big for His comfort. Receiving comfort isn't weakness or a burden on anyone; it's letting love reach you. Maybe you need to let your guard down today, stop taking care of everyone for a moment, and simply let God take care of you. You deserve to be held too. The same God you present to others as the Comforter wants to be, right now, yours.

Prayer

Father of mercies, today I stop being strong for everyone and let myself be comforted by You. Hold my tired heart. I need to be held too. Amen.
