Day 54Strength for Mothers

Throwing Out Someone Else's Ruler

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

2 Corinthians 10:12

The ruler of comparison cannot be trusted. When you measure your motherhood against another mother's, you're using a ruler made for a life that isn't yours. The children are different. The story is different. The resources are different. The invisible battles are different. Nobody posts the bad days. Nobody shows the three-a.m. crying, the ugly fight in the car before church, the dinner that turned into an argument. What you see of others is a showcase. It's not the whole house. You are not competing. You are being faithful to the specific calling God gave you, with the specific children He chose for you, in the specific season you're in. That has no equal. There's no comparison possible. And there doesn't need to be.

Prayer

God, take from me the temptation to compare my motherhood with other people's. Help me see the unique beauty of the story You are writing in my family. Amen.
