Day 55Strength for Mothers

A New Heart

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

David wrote this psalm after a grave mistake. And even so, he went to God. He didn't pretend everything was fine. He didn't hide in shame. He went to God with the truth and asked for renewal. You can do the same. No matter what has happened in your motherhood up to now — the moments you're ashamed of, the patterns you want to break, the things you inherited and don't want to pass on. God can create something new in you. Not patch it up, not disguise it — create it. This is one of the most powerful prayers a mother can pray: God, create in me a new heart. A more patient heart. More present. More full of grace. He hears that prayer. He answers it. Not all at once, but day by day, as you keep making room for His work.

Prayer

Father, create in me a clean heart. Where there are patterns that hold me captive, renew them. Where there is hurt that hardens me, soften it. Make me the mother You dreamed of when You called me to this role. Amen.
