Day 81Marriage Devotional

What Remains for Our Children

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD.

Psalm 127:3a

The legacy of a marriage goes beyond material things. What passes from generation to generation are the values, the patterns of love, the way of resolving conflict, the model of faithfulness that children see at home.

Have you thought about what your marriage is teaching those who watch you? Children see more than they hear. They notice how you speak to your spouse, how you work through disagreements, whether there is respect, whether there is tenderness, whether there is prayer together.

This isn't pressure to be perfect — it's an invitation to be intentional. Every time you apologize to your spouse in front of your children, you are teaching humility. Every time you pray together, you are planting faith. Every time you choose each other on a hard day, you are showing what covenant looks like.

Your marriage is your children's first school. And what a beautiful school it can be when it's in God's hands.

Prayer

Lord, may our marriage leave a legacy of love, faith, and faithfulness. May our children see in us a model of how You love — with patience, with forgiveness, with joy. Amen.
