Day 82 — Marriage Devotional
Gratitude in Everything
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"In everything" is a demanding phrase. Not "when things are good," not "when you feel inspired" — in everything. On the joyful days and on the hard days. In the good seasons of marriage and in the seasons that test your patience.
Gratitude isn't denying that something is difficult. It's saying: "Even here, there is something I can be thankful for." Maybe it's simply the fact that you are still together. That God is still in the middle. That there's one more day of opportunity to choose well.
Gratitude changes your perspective on marriage. When you begin to see with grateful eyes, what once seemed ordinary becomes a gift. What felt like a burden becomes a path.
Try this today: thank God for three things about your marriage. They don't have to be big things. What matters is starting. Gratitude, when cultivated, grows.
Prayer
God, thank You. For my marriage, for my spouse, for the covenant we've built together. In everything — on the easy days and the hard ones — I want to be grateful. May my gratitude honor You. Amen.
