Day 68Marriage Devotional

Where Help Comes From

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

When life closes in, we look around for a way out. We call a family member, seek advice, search for solutions. There's nothing wrong with that. But Psalm 121 reminds us where the help that truly sustains us actually comes from.

In a marriage under strain, it's easy to look for answers everywhere except the right place. We want the problem to vanish quickly, for someone to tell us what to do, for the situation to change fast. But the help that transforms us from within — that renews hope, that resets our perspective, that gives us peace in the middle of chaos — that comes from the Lord.

He who made the heavens and the earth has no trouble with what you're facing. It's not too big, and it's not too complicated for Him. When you lift your eyes to Him in the middle of your marriage's crisis, you are looking to the right source.

Today, before anything else: lift up your eyes.

Prayer

Lord, I lift my eyes to You. The help I need is not in myself or in the people around me — it is in You, who made all things. Help our marriage today. Amen.
