Day 52Young Woman of Faith

When I Am Afraid

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Psalm 56:3-4

The psalmist didn't say, "when I am afraid, I'll pretend I'm not." He said, "when I am afraid, I will trust in You." There's a beautiful honesty in that confession. He didn't hide his fear — he brought it into God's presence.

You can do the same. You can come before God trembling and say: "I'm afraid. I don't know what's going to happen. I don't know if I'm capable." And in that place of honesty, receive — not guarantees that everything will work out the way you planned, but the presence of Someone greater than everything you fear.

Fear doesn't automatically disappear when you become a Christian. But it changes position. Instead of being the center, it becomes the reason you run to God. And in that running, you discover that He is enough.

Today, what fear are you carrying? Bring it. Don't hide it. God isn't frightened by what frightens you.

Prayer

Lord, today I bring You my fear. I'm not pretending it doesn't exist. I trust You in the middle of it. May Your presence be greater than what frightens me. Amen.
