Day 51 — Young Woman of Faith
The Fear of What Others Will Think
“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of what others will think is a snare. That image is precise: a snare doesn't trap you with visible chains. It holds you in a way that makes it seem like you can still move — but when you try to go forward, you find you can't.
How many things have you not done because of this? How many words got swallowed back down? How many opportunities passed you by? How much of you stayed hidden because you were afraid of a look, a comment, someone's laughter?
That fear doesn't come from God. It comes from the belief that people's opinion of you matters more than the truth God speaks over you. It's a trade that looks small but costs a great deal.
The security God offers isn't the absence of criticism. It's the certainty that even when people criticize, what matters to Him remains intact. You can act, speak, show up, simply be — because your security doesn't depend on their approval.
Prayer
Father, free me from the snare of what others will think. May Your truth about me speak louder than any human voice. I want to live free. Amen.
