Day 73Closer to God — 365 Days

Cast Your Burden

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22

There's a difference between mentioning something to God and casting it onto God. "Mentioning" is saying it in prayer and then carrying it the same way afterward. "Casting" is an active movement — lifting it off your own lap and placing it on Him.

The verb in the original Hebrew here is strong: to throw, to unload. Like someone hurling a heavy load away from their own body. God doesn't want you to carry it along with Him — He wants to carry it in your place.

"He shall sustain thee" — while you cast the care, He holds you up. You will not fall. Even if the problem continues for a while, you won't be destroyed by it. Not because you are strong — because He is.

Today, literally name out loud what you're carrying. Say: "This, I am casting onto You." It's an act of faith more than an act of feeling. And He honors that act.

Prayer

God, here are my cares — one by one. Receive them, because I can't carry them anymore. Sustain me as I learn to let go. Amen.
