Day 72 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Shepherd and the Anxious Sheep
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”
Psalm 23:1-2
A sheep doesn't plan its own path. It follows the shepherd. And when the shepherd is good, it doesn't have to worry about where it will eat, where it will drink, where it will rest. He takes care of that.
We're so different from sheep — we want to plan everything, control everything, guarantee everything. And in the end, the effort of carrying that control wears us out more than any physical labor could.
"Still waters" — in the Hebrew, literally "waters of rest." God leads us to a place of calm, not chaos. The destination He has prepared for you isn't one of constant rushing and suffocation. There is rest along the path He lays out.
You are not the shepherd of your own life. There is a Shepherd who knows every step of the way, every need before you feel it, every danger before you see it. Following Him is not weakness. It's the wisest decision there is.
Prayer
Lord, remind me today that I am the sheep, not the shepherd. Let me follow without needing to control every detail. Trust His leading, my heart. Amen.
