Day 33 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Lay Down the Weight
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee.”
Psalm 55:22
There's a weight many people carry without realizing it: the weight of fixing everything, protecting everyone, never letting anything drop. And that weight builds up silently until the body signals it, sleep fails, joy disappears.
God didn't call you to be Atlas, holding up the world on your shoulders. He said: cast it on me. Throw this burden onto me. The word "cast" is intentional — it's not setting something down gently, it's hurling it with force, with intention. Because sometimes the care we carry is stuck so close to us that we need a deliberate act to let it go.
Today, what are you carrying that should be in God's hands? A situation at work? A child's future? A relationship that's wearing you out? God doesn't just receive that weight: He sustains you while you keep standing. Without the burden, you walk lighter. And you walk with Him.
Prayer
Father, I hand over what I've been carrying alone. I can't hold it up with my own strength any longer. Receive my burden and sustain me, because in You I find rest. Amen.
