Day 190Closer to God — 365 Days

He Restores the Soul

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Psalm 23:3

Psalm 23 is one of the most beloved passages in the whole Bible — and for good reason. It was written by someone who knew what it was to be exhausted, lost, with a soul run dry. David knew what it meant to need restoring.

"He restoreth my soul" — the Hebrew word here is "shub," which means to bring back, to return, to restore to the original state. It's the image of something lost being given back. Of someone who wandered being led home again.

Maybe you feel like something in you got lost in this hard season. The joy you used to have, the lightness, the faith that used to feel easier. That can be restored. God doesn't just comfort — He gives back what was lost in the soul.

Let Him lead you back. You don't need to force anything. The Good Shepherd knows the way and leads you with patience and care.

Prayer

Lord, restore my soul. Bring back what I feel I've lost. Lead me back close to You. Amen.
