6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Verse explanation
The original Hebrew expression can be translated either as the shadow of death or simply as deep darkness. Scholars still debate which reading is more precise, but the general sense, of a dark and dangerous place, holds either way.
