Day 79 — Mornings with God
Always, in Everything, with Thanks
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Three short instructions that carry a whole lifetime. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks. Paul wasn't being naive — he knew pain, imprisonment, rejection. But he discovered that these three habits transform how you experience life.
Gratitude in everything isn't gratitude for everything. That's different. You don't have to thank God for suffering as if it were good. But you can give thanks in the middle of it — for the God who is there, for what He's going to do, for what you can't yet see.
This constant gratitude isn't naivety. It's a worldview that recognizes God is at work even where we can't see it, that nothing escapes His love, that the ending of the story has already been written, and it's good.
Today, practice gratitude in everything — not only the easy things. The hard moments too. And watch what changes in your heart.
Prayer
Lord, teach me gratitude in everything. When it's hard to give thanks, remind me who You are and all You've already done. I want to live with an open, grateful heart. Amen.
