Day 78 — Mornings with God
Praising Before Seeing
“But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.”
Psalm 59:16
Morning praise is different from all other praise. It's praise before seeing the outcome. Before knowing how the day will end. Before having the answers. It's a declaration of trust while it's still dark.
David was in danger when he wrote this psalm — surrounded by enemies, with no way out in sight. But he said: in the morning I will sing aloud of Your mercy. Not "if everything works out." Not "once I get out of here." In the morning. Now.
This kind of praise does something in our hearts. It reorients us. It puts God at the center before the problems get there. And when He's at the center, everything else falls into its rightful place — smaller, less frightening, more manageable.
Sing this morning — even if it's only in your heart, even if your voice won't come out, even if the tears come with it. Praising before seeing is one of the most courageous and beautiful acts of faith.
Prayer
Father, I choose to praise You this morning before I even know what the day will bring. You are good, You are faithful, You are my refuge. I exalt Your name right from the start. Amen.
