Day 73Mornings with God

Don't Carry It Alone

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

1 Peter 5:7

There's a beautiful image in this verse: casting. Not holding carefully, not setting down gently — casting. Throwing it far. Letting go with everything you've got.

Peter knew that anxiety is heavy. He had felt it himself — the night he nearly drowned, the hours he denied the Master, the days when everything seemed to fall apart. But he learned something: you don't have to carry this alone. God cares for you.

The Greek word translated "care" carries the idea of attention, of genuine concern. God doesn't look at you from a distance and say "it'll pass." He cares. He wants to know what's weighing you down. He receives everything you cast on Him.

Before you head out this morning, think: what am I carrying that I should have cast on Him weeks ago? A fear? A hurt? A situation with no solution in sight? Cast it now. His arms are open.

Prayer

Father, I cast upon You the anxiety I've been carrying. [Speak what weighs on You now.] I trust that You care for me. Thank You for receiving what I bring. Amen.
