Day 53 — Mornings with God
Ask for Wisdom
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
James 1:5
Liberally. James chose a generous word — God gives wisdom liberally, with an open hand, without hesitation, without making anyone feel foolish for having to ask. "Upbraideth not" — there's no judgment. You can simply come and ask.
How many decisions will you need to make today? Some small — what to say, how to organize your time, what to prioritize. Some bigger — something in your family, at work, in a relationship. For all of them, wisdom is available.
But the verse has one condition: "ask." Wisdom is available, but it isn't automatic. You have to stop and admit: "I need more than my own judgment here. I need God's perspective."
This morning is a good moment to make that request before the day begins. "God, give me wisdom for what's ahead of me today." As simple as that. And He gives it.
Prayer
God, give me wisdom today. For the decisions I already know are coming and for the ones that will still surprise me. I don't trust only in my own judgment — I trust in Yours. Amen.
