Day 54 — Mornings with God
The Silence Before the Noise
“Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.”
Psalm 143:10
There's a different quality to the silence of the morning. Before the day switches on all its noise — the phone, the news, the demands, the voices from outside — there's a window. Narrow at times, but real. And in that window, God can teach.
David asked to be taught to do God's will. Not just to know it — to do it. There's often an enormous distance between knowing what's right and actually living that way. And to cross that distance, we need more than information — we need formation.
The silence of the morning is a space of formation. It's where the heart leans in before the day bends everything toward other things. It's where you remember who you are, who He is, and what really matters.
Protect that silence when you can. Not every day will make it possible, but when it does — keep it like a gift that belongs only to you and God.
Prayer
Lord, in this morning silence, teach me. Form in me what my own strength cannot build. Let me do Your will today, not just know what it is. Amen.
