Day 51Mornings with God

The Sheep Know His Voice

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

John 10:27

There's something deeply comforting in this image. Sheep don't follow just any voice — they follow the voice they recognize. And they recognize it because they live close to the shepherd, because they spend time with him, because over time they've learned how he sounds.

Hearing the voice of Jesus is a skill that develops. It doesn't come ready-made. It grows from reading the Word, from prayer, from paying attention to the Holy Spirit who lives in you. The more time you spend in His presence, the easier it becomes to tell His voice apart from all the others — the voice of fear, of social pressure, of your own ego.

This quiet morning is ear training. Every day you open the Word before you open social media, you're sharpening your ability to listen. Every moment of prayer before the rush of the day is a calibration of the heart.

"I know them" — He knows you, by name, completely. And you can come to know His voice more and more.

Prayer

Jesus, I want to know Your voice more and more. May it be clearer to me than any other noise. Guide me today as the Good Shepherd You are. Amen.
