Day 46Mornings with God

Be Still

Be still, and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10

Before anything else — before your phone, before the news, before today's list — this verse asks for something both simple and difficult: stop. Be still.

The Hebrew word here carries the idea of letting go, of loosening the tension. Like when you drop your shoulders after a long day. God is saying: you can let go. You don't have to hold onto everything. Be still.

And then comes the "knowing" — a certainty born in silence. That He is God. Not you. Not your circumstances. Not your boss, not your bank account, not your diagnosis. Him.

The silence of the morning holds a power that the noise of the day drowns out. It's in that silence that many important truths manage to reach us — about God, about ourselves, about what really matters.

Today, give God a few minutes before the day takes everything. Sit. Breathe. Let the Spirit of God settle over you. Sometimes the deepest prayer begins with silence.

Prayer

Lord, help me be still before I rush. May I know, from the inside out, that You are God — and may that be enough for me today. Amen.
