Day 39 — Mornings with God
The Light of Day
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
Psalm 27:1
Light and salvation. David joined these two words in the same verse, and it wasn't by accident. Light illuminates what was dark — it shows the way, reveals obstacles before you stumble over them, restores your bearings when you've lost your way. And salvation reaches what the light reveals: the situation that seemed hopeless, the danger that was lurking nearby.
In the morning, when you open your eyes, natural light already tells you a new day has begun. But the light this Psalm speaks of is different — it doesn't depend on the sun or the weather. It is the presence of God illuminating the path in front of you.
"Whom shall I fear?" David didn't ask this because there were no threats. There were, and many. But the presence of God was greater than anything that came against him.
Today, carry this question like a banner: whom shall I fear, if God is my light? The answer — when it rises from within — changes the tone of the whole day.
Prayer
Lord, You are my light today. In the moments when I cannot see the way, shine. In moments of fear, remind me of who You are. Amen.
